How our flat fees work
-
Written scope: You'll get a clean proposal that lists what's included (arraignment, discovery, negotiations, standard motions/hearings) and what triggers additional fees (expert consultation, contested evidentiary hearings, trial).
-
Phased when helpful: Some cases benefit from a two-stage plan—investigation/motions first, with a separate trial fee only if needed.
-
No junk charges: We don't bill for copying or “file opening.” If a third party charges (e.g., records, experts), we'll say so up front.
What's included
-
License-defense setup: ALS or refusal hearing requests filed on time, with record demands.
-
Discovery & records: Police reports, body-cam/dash-cam, breath-device performance logs, operator permits, and blood lab packets.
-
Core motion practice: Stop/detention issues, field test reliability, breath/blood admissibility, and case-specific targeted motions including motions to suppress.
-
Regular updates: We track your case in iCourt and update you as events post.
What's not included
- Jury Trial: Our flat rate fee above does not include a jury trial. Each case is different and if your case heads toward trial, we will give you an idea of how much that will cost early on so that you can be prepared.
- Expert Witness Costs: Drug DUIs and cases where we need to look at the Widmark Equation can require expert consultation. Usually we will be on top of this at the beginning of a case and let you know what those possible fees may entail to have our expert from BSU check into your case and see if he can help. These costs are not covered by our flat rate fees.
Payment options
-
Card, ACH, cash, or check.
-
Payment plans are available for many cases; we'll match dates to court schedules so you're never guessing.
-
Employer/third-party payers: We'll provide invoices and receipts formatted for reimbursement needs.
What affects the fee
-
Complexity: Blood draws, collisions, alleged refusals, priors, or CDL/under-21 issues can expand the work.
-
Evidentiary hearings: When we set hearings on suppression or admissibility, we'll quote the incremental work in writing.
-
Experts: Toxicology, accident reconstruction, or medical witnesses are case-by-case and always discussed up front.
Costs & fines (not attorney fees)
Court fines, probation fees, interlock vendor costs, classes, and reinstatement fees are separate. We'll give you a budget roadmap with due dates so there are no surprises.
FAQs
Do you charge for initial consultations? No—call us.
Can we start small and decide on trial later? Yes. We can phase the fee so trial is only paid if you choose that path.
What if I move or can't come to court? We'll request remote appearances for routine settings when allowed and keep you informed.
